DJI Vision 2 STF Flyover

Was invited to go play with the DJI Phantom 2 Vision Quadcopter with Integrated FPV Camcorder (White) for a fly over at both campuses of my beloved church gathering locations.

This little aircraft continues to be just plain fun!

Hair Removal

Here is my last scalp depilation.

You have not lived until you have shaved your head so get to it. When I see you next I can marvel at your hairless cranium.

Attempt to stop predictive auto dialers.

I am using a disconnected phone line tone aka S.I.T. (Special Information Tones), at the beginning of my answering machine message.

The predictive dialer monitors the answers to the calls it places, detecting how the calls it makes are answered. It discards unanswered calls, busy numbers, disconnected lines, answers from fax machines, answering machines and similar automated services, and only connects calls answered by people to waiting sales representatives. Thus, it frees agents from the task of manually dialing telephone numbers and subsequently listening to ring tones, unanswered or unsuccessful calls.

call-center

We receive about 12 calls  a week which our answering machine picks up as nothing but white noise or on occasion some recorded message designed in some way to induce us to send money to the organization who is irritating us with said phone call.

Now if i need it I already have it or will get it without being told  by some slimy sales person I must have it. If something is worthy of my money which there is little of to begin with I do not need to hear a sales pitch to know I want or need it. Sales pitches are for items or services that are not valuable enough to sell themselves based on their own merits. In others word if someone is trying to see you on something that something is no good.

This is the first day of the test and I have received two calls as I write this post.

Uncharacteristically both calls were not followed by white noise but by two recorded messages. Also uncharacteristically both messages got stuck in a loop which I am going to surmise is a positive sign that the auto dialer might be cycling as a result of processing a disconnected number tone. I know this just might be wishful thinking but time will tell if the calls do indeed stop coming!

A JT Party

I have a client who throws grand parties. Mrs. Jackie  Toledo and family do not miss an opportunity to gather friends and family together for food and fellowship. These parties are always above and beyond, and always have a theme. My favorite thing about them is the family atmosphere!

Last week was a birthday and the theme was superheroes. Here are some on the job images from the happy occasion.

Tuning up Tyler's Piaggio

I had an enjoyable time this afternoon under Blake's open garage roof "helping" tune up Tyler's Piaggio fly.

Tuning up Tyler's Scooter

It was blazing hot but the fellowship was great. Tyler has put over 9k on his fly and this was the second oil change in all those miles.

Tuning up Tyler's Scooter

Nothing that needs regular maintenance is easy to get to on this model.

The spark plug is especially hard to access but they even managed to change it as well! After 9000 miles it needed it. The old one was toast.

Low Flow Toilet Shoot.

Here is the HD version by a real pro! Thank you Tyler.

Back in 1994 the government mandated new water capacity standards for toilets. This was the first taste I had of just how inept the government is at accomplishing most anything. They took a noble idea and completely fouled it up. For years we suffered with the very toilet that was put out of it’s misery in the video above. This is what I know about government.

  1. Any project the government takes on will always cost more than twice as much as it would if the same project were undertaken by private interests.
  2. A government project will always cause more problems than it will solve until eventually innovative non-government business are allowed by the government to design and implement real solutions.
  3. The government gets involved in any project to grow itself and never admits mistakes or takes responsibility for wasting the tax payers money because the government knows what is best for you even when you do not.

This low flow toilet had to be flush multiple time per use and as a result did not save water at all. The only thing this toilet provided by the government did was drive us up the wall. Rest in pieces low flow toilet it was not your fault that you were so poorly designed.

Hammock Weather

I am really enjoying the beautiful weather. I is enough to make me laugh out loud with joy. The scientists, politicians and mass media all say that the weather is a result of global warming so I say it must be a good thing despite the constant fuss they make.

JAARS Missions at the Airport 2007

I had the pleasure of attending the JAARS (“Jungle Aviation and Radio Service” began in Peru in 1948, operating as a department of SIL until it was officially incorporated in 1963. The original two aspects of service, aviation and radio, were soon followed by others. In recognition of the diversification, the acronym J.A.A.R.S. has been dropped and the organization is now just called JAARS Inc.) missions at the Albert Whitted airport. The main attraction for me was a $20.00 helicopter ride!

There were plenty of displays to educate the visitor about each of the functions of this ministry and other missions connected to this ministry.

These were neat little improvised devices ment to take the sting and itch out of insect bites. Missionary tested and approved.

Bart explained this interesting device to me.

The ride was very comfortable and I foun it to be far less stressful flying knowing that we could land virtually anywhere within minutes. Very smooth and thanks to the pilot who had the door removed on my side I was able to record glasre free images!

The pilot gave me a rundown on the aircraft.

For all you Tampa and Clearwater dwellers they will be flying tomorrow and next weekend here are the details!
