Momma Squirrel no More.

Momma Squirrel no more

Beloved squirrel who so faithfully served the Creator and brought us lots of joy met her demise yesterday afternoon. She is the second momma squirrel who made the little patch of earth we live on her's as well and she will be missed.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31

Anclote with Old Friends

Anclote with friends

Capt. Scott facilitated a spectacular adventure for all of us childhood friends today! Our destination was Anclote Key!

Anclote with friends

It was a beautiful day to be on the water!

“All about us, in earth and air, wherever the eye or ear can reach, there is a power ever-breathing itself forth in signs, now in a daisy, now in a wind-waft, a cloud, a sunset; a power that holds constant and sweetest relation with the dark and silent world within us. The same God who is within us and upon whose trees we are the buds, if not yet the flowers, also is all about us, inside, the Spirit; outside, the Word. And the two are ever trying to meet in us; and when they meet, then the sign without, and the longing within become one light, and the man no more walketh in darkness, but knoweth wither he is goeth” (Thomas Wingfold, Curate, Ch.82) George Macdonald

Anclote with friends

The eldest of the Miller brothers was in town and it was his visit that precipitated the adventure. On the boat were Capt. Scott, the Miller brothers, the younger of the miller brothers was accompanied by his two sons and then there was my brother and I!

Anclote with friends

You and I are the offspring of God. The one and only Creator of all that there is. In Him alone is love and only through a return to Him in complete surrender do we have fellowship with each other! This fellowship is good and true and is a shadow of the fellowship ahead of us in the kingdom to come.

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ's gift.  Ephesians 4:1-7 ESV

Quackers Out Back

You would think they would find a lovely pond somewhere but like last years they have returned to the ditch in the field behind the house. I am happy to have them!

Critter Trouble

I received a call this morning from a friend with hens. There used to be four now there are three and I had a trap set on the property in an attempt to capture the culprit. Keep in mind these creatures are not villains they are surviving just the same as we are. The call was informing me that the trap had done its job so I headed over and this is what I found!

Opossum

A healthy Opossum giving me the "I am your worst nightmare treatment." I have always been fond of Opossums and have found them to be all bluster and bluff. They are very slow movers and if really pressed they will just flop over and play dead. The larger ones do smell revolting and if you catch one they will often begin slowing pooping all over the place to make themselves even more undesirable.

Cowboy Up Ministires

Today they had special guests from Paul Daily and his Wild Horse Ministries.

Cowboy Up Ministires

It was a pleasure to watch them gentle a never ridden horse and ride it within an hour or so before our eyes. Twice as nice was hearing the process related to the working of Jesus in our own lives!

It was a great time of fellowship among the cowboy faithful.

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

First Fishing of 2016

First Fishing of the New Year!

First Fishing of the New Year!

We witnessed something new to us on this trip.

First Fishing of the New Year!

Well over 20 Osprey hunting over the flats in a large group. They were in the air for hours diving one after the other. We would see them pluck a fish from the water time after time.

It is the new year but God is not bound by time. Today is the day of your salvation. You are forgiven in Jesus name and He awaits your return to Him. A willingness to give your life back to the one who has given you life is all you need. It not by works but by Grace through Faith! Ephesians 2:8-9

Mesh Web

There is so much in creation to discover and my favorite discoveries are the ones just outside my window. I have been here for decades and yesterday for the very first time I encountered a web unlike any I have ever seen! I can only describe it as a miniature Trapeze net. The micro engineering is simply amazing!

Mesh Spider Web

At first glance there nothing remarkable to be seen. Closer inspection reveals the astonishing intricacy of the design and execution of the woven mesh web!

Mesh Spider Web

What would you say if while looking at this with someone they made the statement that its presence among the leaves and branches is accidental and that not only is the web like structure the product of chance but that the tree and the planet is is attached to came out of nowhere from nothing?

The Yearling Trail.

The Yearling Trail

Went on another road trip this time destination The Yearling Trail followed by the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. It was a wonderful step back in time!

The Yearling Trail

The Yearling Trail

The trail was exciting with a very diverse landscape and I had to turn back to soon. I will soon visit again and give it the attention it deserves!

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park

The Rawlings home was great! A real slice of life from the 1930's.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park

It was deserted Monday afternoon and after paying the $3 parking fee we wandered around all by ourselves and enjoyed the grounds as if we were the only people on the planet. The home and buildings were not accessible but you could look through the screen doors and see the old time decor. We will return some day near the weekend for the tour.

Brofishing November 1, 2015

Went fishing today! Enjoyed it as usual.

Brofishing November 1, 2015

The bay has been abundant with bait fish and the grass on the flats is thriving like I have never seen it!

Joe did most of the catching.

As we pulled up to the ramp on our way home we were able to free an entangled Pelican. Very gratifying to see it fly off to continue its service to creation.

Then God said, "Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens." Genesis 1:20

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

Six hours in the quest for fish. You never know for sure what you will encounter out on the bay and you may know what species are currently biting but catching them is a different story. The conditions were warm with very light winds today. The sky was blue with puff white clouds above. We very quickly encountered fish.

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

There were Spanish Mackerel (Scomberomorini) just about everywhere we went and on this day we caught more of their species than others. I am making a mental note to look for them every September late in the month.

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

The first fish I was able to catch was another pelagic. I do believe this is only the second I have caught over the years. The first one I think was back in 2008. It is a bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix).

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

Both of the aforementioned species are equipped with razor sharp teeth and are eating machines! If you do not use wire leader you will be cut off 9 times out of 10!

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

Everything was in abundance. We saw a large sea turtle and have been seeing more in the last two years than in all the previous years of this life combined. The bait was everywhere in huge numbers and large individual sizes. It is a joy to see creation thriving!

Winter is on it's way and the creatures are using this time of abundance to stock up on calories! Good time for fishing!

Brofishing Sept. 20, 2015

They only righteous Puffers are those who were designed that way!

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you. But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

1 Corinthians 4:14-21
