I have been “improving” the canoe this last couple of weeks.
I have made many trips to Fiberglass Coatings Inc. in St. Petersburg Florida and spent twice the budget on foam and fiberglass.
I started by making a form in which to pour the Urethane foam.
I capped it off with a wooded transom.
Started mixing, pouring, cutting, rasping and sanding and at long last am ready for part two the fiberglassing. Stay tuned for certain disaster!
After looking for second hand tables and only finding worn particle board with veneer offerings for over $200 I buckled down and built a solid pine table for just under $250.

I have been painting two interior rooms of a friends today.
was told that I could rummage around in their fridge so I scratched this up for lunch. This is the home the coffee table was made for.
The owner put a metal cover on the top!
It has been a journey but the end is nigh! It is a delight to have a kitchen that is so clean and efficient. Thank you Lord for your many blessings.
Hand made pine cabinetry. The initial investment in wood and Polyurethane is approximately $350! You save a bundle when you do it yourself.
I am starting to turn the corner and head for the finish line. The floors are complete and the kitchen is coming along. I have started the carpentry phase and did all the closets.
I used the lowest priced pine at about $2.00 a linear foot. this is approxamately half the price of the prime lumber
It dresses up nicely with a light sanding and three coats of fast drying Polyurethane.
I used cleats at the ends that were not supported by a vertical board. Where they did not meet a stud I used screws with anchors.
I was able to add an extra shelf or two in each area.
This is more like an alcove than a closet and I debated what to do with it. I finally decided that overlapping shelves would produce the most effective use of space for storage.

Hot chocolate, Tea, Oatmeal, Instant mashed potatoes all in mere seconds instead of minutes. Every second counts when in pursuit of leisure!
Like icing a cake the easiest way to place those final cut tiles is with a latex grout bag. It gets the thin set right where you want it without all the mess.
Grouting is next just after the spaces are thoroughly cleared of excess thin set and cleaned. Then it is on to baseboards, shelving and cabinets!
The tiling is in process…a long process but it is good to be challenged to persevere. I am using tile from home depot and it looks great. 12” and 6” Marazzi Montagna Cortina porcelain tile in a herring bone pattern. I am also trying spacers that double as leveling clips which increases the cost and install time but I want the best finished product I can get for all the work involved and I believe they are working like a charm. When using these clips I recommend not only applying thin set to the floor but to the back of the tile.
I have about three more days of work ahead before I can grout.
The walls are all painted and will only need a final touch up after the tile is installed. It is great to be at this point in the operation!

I am continuing to make progress on the kitchen remodel. I am very excited at how well it is going.
It is a dusty business but soon it will be time to paint and all the imperfections will be covered over and the walls will be delightfully seamless in appearance!
Might be going on a dive tomorrow so I have been making some preparations. I have the use of a Gopro and made a mask mount for it that turned out very well.
Next thing you know I see on youtube how miserably inadequate the original underwater housing is for getting anything resembling HD quality video. To late to order the new housing as I refuse to pay as much for shipping as for the product being shipped. I decide to make a solution out of an old cokin filter and it worked flawlessly in my sink so here is hoping it can take the pressure out in the Atlantic. You will know soon enough by the video quality that shows up in my next post.
