To Ankuash and back DAY 7

By now I have really settled in and the world outside seems like a distant memory. We are working hard but without all the modern distraction we are focused and relaxed.

After clinic today the people brought out handmade items for us to purchase. I am not much of a shopper but it was a real pleasure to spend some cash knowing they would put it to good use providing for their families!

Everyone has begun to become a part of this place and as our time here comes to a close we are all taking advantage of the jungles unique amenities!

We all make the evening pilgrimage to the small waterfall ten minute down the trail from the village. It make the most refreshing shower I have ever experienced.

Ecuador trip brief as recorded by Don Wolfram our missionary guide in Ecuador.

Day 7: Thursday 03rd- After breakfast we met went to the Clinic and started to do medical work seeing about 65 people final and last day, mostly by family group. As this was our last day, they really wanted to end by noon and then have a “craft/artisan” fair.

We saw people mostly from the communities of: Tuna (2 hrs), Kawa,(1 hr), and even some from 2 days away from the province of Morona Santiago across the Pastaza River further South of us. (16 Hrs)

We had lunch then proceeded to break-down the medical stations and pharmacy and pack-up the bags and leftover meds for our exit in the morning.

Dr. Doug, Marcy, Andre, Brent and Octavio walked to Kuakash during the afternoon to check up on a lady who had had a baby and was still bleeding pretty bad. Her husband, not knowing she had arrived the day before, had walked out that morning to go find her in Puyo.

We had the fair starting about 3pm and were really able to bless the community by putting hard cash in the hands of many for their crafts and spears. This was a big highlight and blessing for them as cash is very hard to come by for them in the jungle.

That evening, we moved indoor to the school as we had already packed up the medical stations and had a recognition ceremony in which they presented spears and necklasses in appreciation of the medical service and friendship during the week. Afterwards we showed the 2nd half of “Fire Proof” film.
