Chilly Baptism

STF Baptism

This evening we the church had a baptism and it was chilly weather. The temperature was easily in the upper fifties and the wind was gusting. There were about twenty people making a public profession of their faith in Jesus by following our Lord in baptism.

It was exciting to be gathered with so many in conditions most would describe as less than ideal. It was what I would describe as cozy and the warm smiles were made that much more agreeable with each cold blast of air that swirled around the garden. I touch two fingers to the surface of the pool just to satisfy my own curiosity and find it to be nice and warm. I was still glad that I was not going to be one of the people who would have to leave the warmth of the pool and dash to the house to dry off and change.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1John 2:15+16

God has a plan for each of us and I am convinced it is not at all complicated. In fact it is all taken care of by our perfect Heavenly Father with our only responsibility being simple childlike obedience. The world is complicated but God is not.The world offers you anything you want for a price because it loves your money. God offers you everything you need unconditionally because He loves you. The world takes God gives. The world entices you to be in bondage sin. God invites you to be liberated from sin.
