The People, Not The Government Will Solve This Problem.

Hey everyone how are you and yours.

I am sitting here this morning thinking about the present and realizing that at a large portion of the U.S. Population is in debt. Not just the population but the country itself is tens of trillions in debt and if you try to find the actual debt you will see that it cannot be truly known. You have to ask yourself why the most powerful and once prosperous country in the world needs to be in debt at all. What this means is that not only does the individual American citizen have a standard of living that is a sham but the entire country is living in an unsustainable dream world.
When an individual in this country is overwhelmed by their debt what do they do? They use legal means know as bankruptcy. What does a nation do when its citizens and government have mismanaged an entire economy? This is truly sad and was completely unnecessary. It is Godlessness and greed that has brought us here. It is the “I want everything I can possible get and I want it now”, mentality. We could certainly have had what we wanted with a cash driven solvent economy and be on a solid foundation as we speak .

My thoughts of late have been occupied by what day to day life looks like if the economy collapses. We have been artificially prosperous for so long it will certainly be a shock to the majority of society. There are millions who have never existed without credit cards to pay for every little thing. Everyone will have to adjust to living on just the essential material to sustain life and this will be a major transition. Start now in a radical way to live within your means. To maintain in the months to come you will need what cash you can gather.

For those of you who do use debt to stay afloat it will be a wild ride. It is time for all of us to be willing to lose everything that is in our lives that is not paid for and maybe plenty of what is paid for. I think of our church. Not the buildings because they are not paid for, but the people who are the church. The church is a great example of folks supporting each other and even though many times churches ignore God’s Word when it comes to the material, the everyday folks develop a fellowship that is the answer to the situation the world finds itself in today. We as a church are going to have to actively band together and care for those who are struggling during this time.

I am not sure what society as a whole will do. Keep in mind the many people worship stuff. They work day after day with dreams of that car, boat or home they will be able to pay off. They get up on the morning they are not working excited about getting to the mall to shop. They sacrifice much of the time it takes to have meaningful relationship with members of their own family in this pursuit. If the economy crashes they will lose everything they were living for. There will be unemployment on a very large scale. There will be a drastic decline in consumer spending. There will be changes in food supplies that will have to be adjusted for.

I am excited about the future. This is nothing short of an opportunity to return to reality.
If we do not respond like our government and its leaders we may begin again to have a nation that values people and not things. We may come to a place where life is sacred and compassion brings a new peace. None of this will happen without God but we who know we sure can expect desperate people to recognize who God is and come to Him. Whatever happens it will never be beyond God’s direction and He will accomplish His will here on earth as it is in heaven.

This is a great little conversation!
