Davis Islands Baptist Church in no longer what it once was but in so many ways it is still the same. The biggest change is location. As of today if you were to drive over the bridge to Davis Islands for Sunday services you would quickly discover there are none. Head South on Bayshore to the Ballast Point area and the very same church you were seeking on the island is meeting in their squeaky clean new facility! Other than this little has changed. It is still the same large group of loving people seeking to please God and love their neighbors despite our imperfections.
I was amazed at how similar my Sunday experiences were in the new building. It was still bustling with activity and it seemed as thought in so many ways we were still at capacity. I have a sneaking suspicion that even when the looky loos get there fill of the spectacle that is South Tampa Fellowship we might return to a three service Sunday from the two we presently have scheduled. Only time will tell. This is a fascinating journey we are on for sure.
