St. Pete Pier & Vinoy Park

Today our destination was the St. Pete Pier and Vannoy Park. The three little pigs and I hit the road at about 12:30 on our way across the bay to the chosen location. This is a dead Great Blue Heron we saw after arriving and exploring the sea wall.

We took a trolley to the end of the pier where we found a bunch of pelicans being fed sardines by some tourists.

The Bounty was docked on the south side of the pier and I was taken back in time at the site of her. My father brought me to see her in St. Pete decades ago.

I have never seen the pier so well attended in all my visits over the years. The whole area is really developing and is quite lovely. When you actually go into the building at the end of the pier you quickly realize that there is nothing of real interest. The real attraction I believe is the scenery on the outside!

One of the benefits of visiting a tourist area is the boldness of the wildlife. This Seagull was easily approached and I took plenty of picture without fear of it flying away.

The best images are capture as close to the subject as you can get.

We did a considerable amount of walking and the boys took a break to cool their heels in the chilly salt water.

There were a large number of Skimmers on the beach so we started creeping close enough to capture some images.

We decided to cause them to take flight by throwing up our arms. This made for some interesting images.

A Great Blue Heron full of life who was walking the wall as we headed back to the wego.

A bucket of Mullet caught by some cast netters was one of the final image we captured before we reached the Wego and headed for seven eleven. What another great adventure!
