Slow Leaks & Bad Timing
Today found me under the hood. The Wego has been leaking coolant for the last week and replacing a hose or two has had no effect. There is no visible signs of leakage on the ground and only residual moisture on the engine block. Maybe it is the water pump and gasket.
I purchased a water pump at $80.00 and decided that while I was in the bowls of the beast to change the timing belt. It was evident to me that 70,000 miles had worn on the belt and with fear and trembling I removed both the pump and the belt.
Thing went uncharacteristically smooth for one of my projects and in a couple of hours everything was back together. Nothing left but to turn the key. The engine turns over but does not idle after the starter in disengaged. This must be what it sounds like when an engine is not in the proper time.
Back under the hood off with everything I just finished reattaching. I line up the timing marks a second time and put all the belts back on their cogs and pulleys. Turn the key and the Wego roars to life.
I just saved myself a good $300.00+ in labor and at least until the vehicle blows up sometime in the near future I am riding high!
Later ya'll
