I Wish You Were Dead

The wind was prime for a group of Turkey Buzzards to soar effortlessly above the neighborhood the other day. I was able to take a distant photo or two of the ominous birds as they passed by. When I consider my reaction to these big birds I realize they are quite powerful thought provokers. I cannot remember a time when upon seeing them I have not immediately become aware of my mortality. I usually am confronted with a mental image of my body lying motionless in an open field with arms and legs out stretched. Above are several buzzards slowly spiraling downward toward me greatly interested in the state of my health or more importantly the lack there of.

Buzzards are connoisseurs of all things dead meat. They appreciate the passing of time and the effect it has on the deceased. If the vulture could sum up its most deeply held conviction it would be with the motto "The deader the better".

How does a vulture's eating habit differ much from you or me? We are all on the look out for easy meals, we all circle a desired food item considering carefully the best and safest approach to achieve satisfaction, both vultures and humans eat dead animals, if harassed while eating we all can be very aggressive and unpleasant, and both vultures and humans like to sit a spell and relax after a big meal. Come to think of it one of the few differences between you, I, and a vulture, is the vulture's thoughtful habit of letting its meal die on its own or by means of a third party before partaking.

They are as inspiring in fly, as they are repulsive on the ground. They serve a very noble purpose in a very obnoxious way.
