Tis the season for the fantastic little tree hoppers to begin nesting in our powerder puff bush! the image above was taken this evening out in the front yard with my super new Nikon D70 digital SLR.
I have vivid memories of these amazing little insect that go way back. I can still see them spring from the fallen branch of a tree as I tried to grab them. One second they were right in front of me in all their green, orange, and red splendor the next they had snapped up and away so fast the seemed to dissappear.
The little lady in the picture is guarding her brood of eggs which were deposited in a carefully prepared groove at the tip of a branch.
