Today I installed a new watering system for the Chickens. I ordered something called chicken nipples from ebay user cconly.

They are great little pressure valves and the chickens like them very much!

No more dirty watering containers!

The Glass Window Movie & The Press Box

I went to see The Glass Window Movie this evening at The Press Box here in Tampa. I watched it surrounded by a bunch of the folks who were actors in the film which was really surreal.I found that I liked the movie quite well.

I got to sit with the real celebrities and I would not have it any other way. Tim Paskert organized the gathering. Here he is with some of the cast.

It was great to Tim’s vision being played out over the television.

April 2011 Garden and Chicken Update

We are having a great summer this year here in Tampa, Florida and I am trying to make use of it like never before. The gardening experiment is going very well and the chickens are entertaining and productive as well

Lettuce is my favorite crop and I have been using these tasty leaves for sandwiches of all kinds. All I am missing is red ripe Tomatoes and Lord willing they will be making the scene in another three weeks!

The chicken now live in two tribes the old and the young free roam most of the yard while the rowdy hens in their prime are keep in the henitentiary busily producing eggs. This is the new coop for the elderly hens it is a chicken convalescent home of sorts!

South Tampa Fellowship Easter 2011

We had another great Easter egg hunt at South Tampa Fellowship! One of the best things about this event for me is the an interesting phenomena that occurs. I see folks I have not seen in months. I do not really know how to explain it! I do know that I get to be in the presence of some folks I am crazy about and that does my heart a world of good. The more moments lived the more bitter sweet the waking hours become but this only strengthens the resolve to be fully present in the moment. To share with others their sorrows and pain.

Jesus is a place of calm and strength and we can share in the peace with those who have lives in turmoil. Our little Easter egg hunt a place of peace today for families broken and whole alike.

Psa 34:18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Father give us a contrite spirit and rescue us from the misery of our self serving ways. Preserve the little ones in their time of trouble and grow them in the Beauty of Holiness.

Psa 29:2  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Bird Houses Up

The two new bird homes I built earlier are up. The day after I put them up a Red Bellied Woodpecker went gaga over one of them and seems to have set up house keeping. I am glad about it because the same bird was previously eyeing the owl house I recently constructed..

As he/she was inspecting the premises a small bird perched close by. Take a closer look at the image above if you did not already spy the little thing. I thought at first it had to be a realtor bird but after looking it up in my Audubon guild I found it was a Solitary Vireo.

I have a smaller box in the Tallow Tree and I wonder what might nest in it?

Solid Rock STF Children’s Choir 2011

 

There was no shortage of folks in the audience waiting to see South Tampa Fellowship church’s children’s presentation this year. All the hours of rehearsal were about to pay off! Just watch the video below.

Church Duck

Our church has a momma Mallard duck nesting in the bushes. Every Sunday and Wednesday hundreds of people walk by most completely unaware.

Nine eggs minus one that was mysteriously cracked open. I wonder is there will be little duckies everywhere for Easter?

South Tampa Windy Day

Our neighborhood had about 60 seconds of really high wind and the trees were everywhere!

The following days have been a symphony of chainsaws.

 

It has been great fun and exercise cutting up neighbor’s fallen limbs and trees!

Sun and Not So Fun Traffic Jam.

Went to Sun and Fun and waited in traffic for one and a half hours before turning around and finding a different entrance. If we had not been eligible to park in the yellow volunteer parking lot we would have probably never made it!

As far as the eye could see.

We finally made it and strolled around the planes.

 

If you have been to one you have been to them all. Sun and Fun is really about the camaraderie of pilots and plane owners. Although I would love to be a pilot and plane owner alas I am a lazy un-ambitious lump of flesh so one Sun and Fun would have been quite enough.
